Boutique architecture practice Wolff has gone all contemporary with its latest luxury development in North London.
The firm, which has a long-standing pedigree in bringing traditional architecture to residences across Prime London and Oxfordshire, is turning its hand to more modern modes of living, having just received planning permission to develop six new-build townhouses in Muswell Hill (N10), called Connaught House.
Spanning four storeys and 2,500 sq. ft. each, Wolff intends to create a set of properties exemplifying the high-grade, open-plan living space that has become popular among buyers in recent years. Under the practice’s plans, the whole of the ground floor is to be an opened-up living area, while, at basement level, a 700 sq. ft. kitchen-dining room will lead onto a sunken landscaped garden, offering complete seclusion. The property’s four en-suite bedrooms will be located on the upper floors.
Wolff is also seeking to capitalise on the extraordinary amount of natural light the development’s location enjoys, owing to its situation on a hill. Full-length rear-facing windows are due to be installed on all the property’s floors, with the upper storey ones offering an extraordinary panorama of leafy Muswell Hill.
Wolff has begun construction work on Connaught House and completion is scheduled for Summer 2018.
Commenting on the news, David Wolff, director of Wolff Architects, said, “We’re already highly regarded for our skill at delivering traditional renovations and developments within a technically challenging brief. Our practice also has a lesser-known yet equally strong track-record when it comes to creating new-builds across London that other firms would struggle to deliver – it’s our secret skill.
“One of Connaught House’s biggest challenges is the site’s topography – lying as it does on a sloping road – meaning that each property needs to be designed at a slightly different level. In addition, the site is ringed by residential dwellings, challenging us to design buildings sympathetic to the neighbouring architecture whilst ensuring we create an exceptional and high-grade development for our client.”
