The city’s council granted permission for the six-storey building at 10/20 Station Road, which will replace Jupiter House and Leda House in the rapidly emerging CB1 commercial district.

The building will comprise 14,274 sq m of commercial floorspace, alongside 98 car parking spaces and 482 cycle parking spaces. A Pocket Park will also be created, which will be open to the public.

The development has been designed to meet the needs of major employers in Cambridge, which are attracted to the city by its world-leading university but have historically struggled to find sufficiently large offices.

Station Road is already home to Microsoft’s UK headquarters, while Amazon, Carter Jonas, Deloitte and Thales all have offices in the wider CB1 area.

John Drew, Design Director and Principal for Perkins+Will, said: “Receiving planning permission for 10/20 Station Road is a major milestone in the delivery of our vision for Cambridge. The development will provide much needed modern office space and contribute to maintaining and enhancing the area’s vibrant economy. Our design comprises cutting edge accommodation for major international companies, while at the same time respecting the town’s historic character.”

Sven Topel, Chief Executive at Brookgate, added: “Getting the green light for the development of 10/20 Station Road is immensely positive for the CB1 estate and wider Cambridge. The scheme will deliver much in demand office accommodation in this highly connected part of Cambridge, acting to further support businesses in the city. The building is also the anchor for the expansion of green public spaces along this stretch of Station Road.”
