Archial donates prize to animal hospital
One of the largest architecture practices in Scotland and the UK, Archial Architects, has donated £2,500 from the Andrew Doolan Prize fund to the Small Animal Hospital.

The award-winning £10.5 million hospital, which is located in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow, was officially opened by John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth.

The Small Animal Hospital provides state of the art services for animal owners as well as referring practitioners throughout Scotland and Northern England.  Its facilities allow for the most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical techniques.

The extraordinary design for the innovative hospital has already won acclaim, including the prestigious RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award, a RIBA Regional Award and the Supreme Award from the Glasgow Institute of Architects.

The primary design principle for the building was to create a spacious hospital building without degrading the beautiful green space in which it is located. The solution was to use the topography of the site and to place the building within it.
