John McAslan + Partners win Rail Award

Leading architectural practice John McAslan + Partners (JMP) has won the prestigious Heritage Award at this year’s Network Rail Partnership Awards for the practice’s transformation of the Eastern Range building at King’s Cross station.

JMP’s design for the Eastern Range restored the extraordinary proportioned Victorian structure to its former glory, bringing back into use 70,000sqft of office space in the heart of one of Britain’s busiest transportation hubs.  The project was the first phase of the transformation of King’s Cross station and is integral to keeping the station operational during the remainder of the construction works.

JMP shared the award with Stonewest Limited at last week’s ceremony, held at the NEC’s Metropole Hotel.  Both winners were selected from the short-listed entrants by a panel of Network Rail managers and directors.

Hiro Aso, Director at John McAslan + Partners, said: “The Eastern Range was an extremely significant and challenging restoration project. We are delighted to receive the Heritage Award, which not only recognises our concerted effort to sensitively restore the Eastern Range but also our success in unlocking the potential of the building.”
